Charleston , Kanawha County , West Virginia
A line of strong squalls have formed to our west and are tracking east through eastern KY and Ohio in the pre-dawn hours.
Winds have gusted in isolated areas over 50 mph within this rain band...with widespread 40+ mph gusts for 1-2 hours.
This line will be approaching Huntington between 2:00-2:30 AM and Charleston by 3:30-4:00 AM. It should exit eastern WV by 6 AM.
Expect brief but heavy rain and wind which can knock down trees and power in some locations. Many leaves will be blown onto roads which, combined with rain, can make for slick driving conditions. Also be on the lookout for debris in the roads as these squalls move through.
The entire area is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 6 AM. While lightning and thunder are not being observed with this line, the combination of wind and rain warrants a Watch at this time.
