West Virginia lumberjack Matt Cogar has finished in second place at a world championship event.
The reigning U.S. champion finished runner-up to Australia's Brad DeLosa, who won three of the six events over 23 other competitors.
Cogar's father, Paul, and cousin, Arden Cogar Jr., also were on the five-member U.S. team that finished second in the team relay event. Their time of 54 seconds was a U.S. team record. New Zealand finished first by a half second.
The Stihl Timbersports Series World Championship was held last weekend in Stuttgart, Germany.
Paul and Matt Cogar live in the Webster County community of Diana. Arden Cogar Jr. is an attorney from West Hamlin.
