Kenova , Wayne County , West Virginia
A public meeting was held Monday night in Kenova to give people a chance to voice their concerns over the proposal of elementary and middle school restructuring.
Parents, students and faculty members met at the Ceredo-Kenova Wonderdome to express their opinion on the Wayne County Board of Education's decision to close Kenova Elementary. Students in Kenova will be moved to surrounding schools.
Some parents were upset that the move would mean there would be no more schools in the town of Kenova and addressed county school leaders.
"My son going into his sixth grade year came home asking me 'Where do you want me to go to school? Where should I got to school? What am I going to do? Where are we going to play sports next year?' All of these things are questions that needed to be answered before you all decided to say this is what we're doing," said Aaron Ferguson, who is a parent of a student.
Another community meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the C-K Middle School gym.
