Athens , Athens County , Ohio
An Athens County grand jury found no probable cause to charge anyone in an incident in which an Ohio University student reported she was raped.
The incident happened on Oct. 12 involving two 20-year-old Ohio University students,Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said. The Athens Police Department's investigation showed the two students were drinking at a bar, Blackburn said. Police said the students left the bar after closing and began kissing at several locations, including on the hood of a car. At 3 a.m., police said the two stopped in front of a bank and the man performed sex acts on the woman. The incident was videotaped by people nearby.
After leaving the bank, the two were seen voluntarily going to the male's apartment, police said. Police said at about 6:30 a.m. the couple went to a gas station and then the male walked the female home.
The woman said she has no memory of the event. Lab results show the woman's system was clean of any date rape drug.
Blackburn warned the dangers of social media in this case and how it wrongly identified the woman in the incident, spread false rumors and permanently documented the incident.
