Three people are in jail, charged in connection with a bank robbery on Charleston's East End, about a block from the West Virginia State Capitol.
The suspects were quickly captured in Logan County, about 45 minutes after the robbery. Stephen Spiers, 61 of Delbarton, 61-year-old Bernice White and 39-year-old Sandra Mullins, both also from Delbarton, have been charged with bank robbery.
Around 2pm Monday Charleston police say Spiers walked into Chase Bank on Washington Street East, acted like he had a gun, handed the teller a note demanding money and then took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police put out a bulletin for other agencies to be on the lookout for a blue Honda Civic. West Virginia State Police spotted that car on Rt. 119 in Chapmanville, heading south. They pulled the car over and say Spiers and the two women were inside. State police also say there was a gun, which was possibly a BB gun and the note used during the bank robbery.
The two women told police they had given Spiers a ride from Delbarton to Charleston and were heading back to Delbarton.
