U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., announced Wednesday that he is seeking to delay the individual mandate penalty for the Affordable Care Act by one year.
Manchin made the announcement on FOX News’ “The O’Reilly Factor.” Manchin’s proposal would delay the tax penalty for not purchasing health insurance.
Manchin told O’Reilly that he believes he can assemble a bipartisan coalition for the bill he is working on with U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga.
Manchin said he is seeking a transition year for the act, with no fines.
"Let's work through the problems," he said. "We've got a lot of problems, they have been identified. I think everybody has recognized them. Let's fix it. Let's get together and fix things."
