Better come armed with a super big appetite if you are going to take on this dog, and maybe a few friends to jump in and help once the fight to eat it begins.
Hillbilly Hotdogs already had the "Homewrecker" on its menu. It's a gigantic hot dog that's been featured on shows like "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" on the Food Network and other national television channels. As big as that hot dog is, the restaurant just unveiled an even bigger hot dog Monday afternoon. It's called the "Widow Maker." The 24-inch hot dog beats out the current biggest regularly served one -- a 22-inch dog at Alice Cooper's Phoenix-based restaurant.
The Widow Maker beat out nine other names for the top spot. The other choices, submitted by Hillbilly Hotdog Facebook fans, included The Double Dog Dare Ya, The Boss Hog, The Boss Dog, The Mobile Home Wrecker, The Two Timer, The Appalachian Palpitation, The National Debt, All Knight Long and The Hillbilly Wrecker.
In case you are wondering where the restaurant even buys buns long enough to fit these dogs, Brunetti's Bakery in Kenova takes care of that task.
Owners Sharie and Sonny Knight recommend sharing The Widow Maker with friends and family. Watch reporter Darrah Wilcox go live from Hillbilly Hotdogs on our YouTube page.
