Milton , Cabell County , West Virginia
Police said a Cabell County man witnessed a woman trying to set his house on fire.
She has now been arrested,
It's a lead that has neighbors hopeful the fire-setting spree will end.
Fire after fire along Washington Avenue in Milton had occurred, all intentionally set, investigators said.
So far, police have counted a total of six arsons, and people living in the area have gotten nervous.
"You don’t know from one minute to the next whether they going to burn your house down or not," Danny Phillips, of Milton, said.
Police arrested Heather Meadows, a woman they said tried to burn a house down Friday night.
The homeowner, who didn't want to be interviewed, said he was sitting on his neighbor's porch, when he saw Meadows walk up to his son's window with a cigarette lighter, then use it to catch the screen on fire.
The man pulled a gun called 911 and sat on her in the grass until police showed up.
Rob Dunlap lives nearby, and doesn't understand why anyone would do this.
“I don't get the motives,” he said. “What’s the world coming to? I don't understand!"
Meadows is only being charged with the arson attempt from Friday night, but detectives said more charges could follow, and they don't think she has been acting alone.
As they investigate, people living in the neighborhood will be a little on edge, while keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.
An arrest has been made in connection with a string of suspicious fires in Milton.
Police have charged Heather Meadows with one count of arson.
Police said she was caught trying to start a fire in Milton in the same area where the other fires took place.
Meadows has not been charged with all of the fires.
