The West Virginia Department of Transportation said Interstate 64 at mile marker 9 in the west bound lanes won't fully reopen until Monday afternoon.
Highway officials are on the scene on Friday doing some repair work. They have to pour a new three foot section of concrete wall that was destroyed in Thursday's accident.
Highway officials said they have to keep the slow lane closed until Monday for safety issues.
"We have some safety concerns here because where that section of the abutment got knocked out there's not nothing stopping cars from going over," said Carrie Bly, West Virginia Department of Transportation. "So we have some temporary concrete barriers there which are pushing into the slow lane and since it's encroaching on the slow lane we have to close the slow lane so it really is for the safety of everybody."
The tractor trailer wreck also did some cosmetic damage to the bridge but highway officials said it's structurally safe.
A new guardrail will also be installed. Officials said it'll take until Monday to get it in and that's why they have to keep the slow lane closed.
