The driver of a van was seriously injured after a collision with a cement truck at the intersection of the St. Albans exit entrance ramp of Interstate 64 and Winfield Road.
Emergency officials said the driver of the van had serious injuries and was removed from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life and was transported to the hospital.
The accident was reported about 1 p.m. and snarled traffic, backing up drivers on the off-ramp of the interstate and motorists traveling northbound on 817 were stopped in traffic. The accident was cleared about 3 p.m., a 911 dispatcher said.
The cement truck involved in the accident was from Rumble Ready Mix Concrete in St. Albans and Belle. The driver of the cement truck was not injured.
Putnam County sheriff's deputies and firefighters from Teays Valley and Nitro responded to the accident.
Putnam 911 reported Friday there are injuries in an accident involving a cement truck and a vehicle.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Winfield Road (state Route 817) and the entrance ramp of Interstate 64, an emergency dispatcher said. The wreck occurred about 1 p.m.
It was unclear how many people were injured in the wreck. The Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded.
Emergency crews were responding to a report of entrapment after a collision between a cement truck and a vehicle.
Metro 911 reported the accident occurred about 1 p.m. at the bottom of the St. Albans exit ramp off Interstate 64 eastbound. Metro said it was on Winfield Road near the Kanawha-Putnam county line.
