Christmas might still be more than two months away but one volunteer fire department wants to make sure every child has a special day.
The Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department has started collecting toys and money as part of Firehouse Santa.
Firehouse Santa started five years ago with about 60 kids but has grown ever since.
In 2012 the non-profit organization raised more than $15,000 and helped about 300 kids in Cedar Grove schools and the Upper Kanawha Valley WIC.
Firefighters said they depend on monetary and toy donations from the community to help make sure every kid has a Christmas to remember.
"It means a lot," said Larry Coleman, Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department. "To me it does. It makes me happy to see a kid smile. You don't know how it makes a person proud until you see a kid that comes up and smiles and thanks you. There's no words to describe it."
If you want to help out you can drop off donations at the department.
Firehouse Santa is also holding a number of fundraisers in the upcoming weeks. A photo shoot will be held on Saturday, October 19 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Photos are $20 for an 8x10 and 5x7. All proceeds will be donated to Firehouse Santa.
Firehouse Santa is also hosting a hot dog sale on Saturday October 26 at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Grove Little League Baseball Field.
