Firefighters in South Charleston, Charleston and Dunbar are going pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The firefighters are wearing pink T-shirts to support the fight against breast cancer and other cancers, according to a news release from the South Charleston department.
"Firefighters are motivated to get involved for many reasons, and often it's because they have been personally affected by the disease," South Charleston firefighter Virgil White said. "We are supporting breast cancer awareness and prevention by encouraging others to give so that no breast cancer patient goes without life-saving treatments or having hope for a cure."
Each fire department has a different design. You can purchase a T-shirt at the South Charleston Fire Department, at the Dunbar Fire Department or at the Charleston Fire Department located on Morris Street for $15. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. For more information, call the South Charleston Fire Department at 304-744-8264.
