Wayne , Wayne County , West Virginia
A woman charged in connection with the murder of a Wayne County man was in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
Erica Streets, 31, of East Lynn was in Wayne County Magistrate Court for a preliminary hearing. Streets is charged with the murder of her ex-boyfriend and father of her children, Julius Davis. A West Virginia state trooper testified during the hearing that Streets said she feared for her life because Davis was allegedly abusive toward her and the children.
Trooper P.J. Dick testified, "She said she was in fear for her life and her children."
Dick also testified Sheets told he and another trooper she was the one who killed Davis. He said she told them she'd shot him in the head.
Troopers said Davis buried in a shallow grave behind the trailer.
The murder allegedly happened between June 1 and August 1, but no one filed a missing persons report until August 23. "You know it's an isolated part of the county. There's not a true next-door neighbor. People in and around the area eventually noticed that they hadn't seen him in awhile," said Wayne County prosecuting attorney Tom Plymale.
Daniel Kilpatrick, 51, of East Lynn was charged with accessory after the fact in connection with the murder. Troopers said Kilpatrick is accused of disposing the body and destroying evidence. Kilpatrick waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Both cases will now be sent to a grand jury.
