The sirens of firetrucks blared through the air Monday evening in Huntington as the 59th Annual Fire Prevention Parade rolled through with an important message for families.
Hundreds of people lined the streets of Huntington to collect candy and participate in the fun.
The event kicks off Fire Prevention Week and this year's theme is how to prevent kitchen fires. The National Fire Protection Association said cooking is the leading cause of house fires.
Many local fire departments have plenty of fire safety events planned for this week.
