South Charleston , Kanawha County , West Virginia
A Huntington man was arrested and is accused of leading police on a high speed chase that spanned two counties.
According to court documents, Hamlin police officers tried to pull over a sports utility vehicle driven by Robert Pack, 56. They said Pack refused to stop and continued speeding on U.S. Route 119 and went into South Charleston.
South Charleston police set up stop sticks near Songer lane. Pack was traveling at speeds up to 100 miles an hour when he hit the stop sticks, destroying his left tire.
Police said Pack still refused to stop, drove through a field and eventually hit a ditch near Cabela's. He then got out of the vehicle and took off running.
Officers were able to catch Pack, but said he tried to fight them off while they were trying to arrest him.
Police said they found several opened bottles of beer in Pack's SUV.
Pack faces several charges including driving under the influence, fleeing while DUI, fleeing on foot, second offense DUI and third offense driving on a revoked license.
