Travelers should expect an impact on travel services managed by the federal government.
Getting a passport could be more complicated -- because several passport offices are located in federal buildings, which are closed.
And tourism is taking a major hit with national parks, Smithsonian museums and federal monuments closed.
“We will help them plan other recommendations and other attractions,” Christina Rollyson, district office supervisor for AAA. “That's what we do. We write the tour books. We've been doing that for many years. We really do want to help people, and we can help them find alternative plans."
AAA is hopeful that an agreement can be reached so that travelers looking forward to visiting some of those, now-closed, locations, will be able to do so.
