State Police have released the description of a suspect in the robbery of a bank in Poca.
The Poca Valley Bank in downtown Poca was robbed about 1 p.m. Wednesday by a suspect described as a white male in his 30s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing a wig and a fake mustache and was wearing a white button-up shirt, black dress pants and black shoes.
The robber handed the teller a note and fled on foot and apparently headed toward the river, State Police said. He did not display a weapon and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.
State Police were reviewing surveillance video at a Putnam County bank and were looking for a suspect following a robbery Wednesday afternoon in Poca.
The robbery occurred about 1 p.m. at the Poca Valley Bank in downtown Poca. State Police were still at the scene looking at the video, trying to get a more detailed description of the suspect. The suspect was believed to have been a white male, but the video was being reviewed to confirm the description.
State Police said the man left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, and it was unclear whether he displayed a weapon. It was not certain whether the suspect got into a vehicle after leaving the bank. A helicopter searched the riverbank, and authorities also searched other parts of the area.
Initially, State Police, Nitro police and the Putnam County sheriff's department were at the scene of the robbery.
