New poll results show many of you would remove all members of Congress from office because of the shutdown if you could.
Eyewitness News along with our sister stations across the U.S., asked you to take part in a nationwide survey Tuesday by voting on our Facebook page.
We asked, "Should you be allowed to recall members of Congress for allowing the federal government shutdown?"
Thirty-six of our sister television stations around the country asked the exact same question of their viewers for this unscientific survey.
More than 16,400 people voted in the survey. Just more than 14,000 people responded "Yes," we should have the right to recall members of Congress. That is 85 percent of the 16,000 people who voted.
About 2,000, or 15 percent of the people disagreed, and 374 people said they didn't know.
The question was posted because millions of Americans disagree with this shutdown and the political fighting in Washington.
The U.S. Constitution does not allow us to recall our elected members of Congress. Once they are in office in Washington, the only real power you have to remove them, comes from the ballot box.
