West Virginia's House minority leader is vowing to pursue legislation to restrict abortion coverage in the state's health care exchange.
Republican Del. Tim Armstead said Tuesday that he's not deterred that previous attempts to restrict abortion coverage have failed, largely along party lines.
He said there's growing public opposition to the federal health care law and that he plans to tap into that during the 2014 legislative session. Armstead made the comments following a news conference by the anti-abortion group West Virginians for Life. The group handed Armstead a petition containing about 7,000 signatures collected over the past three weeks.
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, nearly half the nation's states have passed laws similar to the one Armstead would like in West Virginia.
