A petition has been created in hopes of saving a longtime conference center in Jackson County, West Virgina.
Earlier this month, the state Department of Education announced a plan to close the Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley to assist in cutting 7.5 percent from the department's budget.
Now thousands of people have taken to social media to try and save the center. About 2,840 people had signed the online petition to save the center as of Monday.
The Cedar Lakes Conference Center is home to the annual Mountain State Arts and Craft Fair each July 4 weekend, and 4-H events and Future Farmers of America. In addition to hosting events, the facility features lodging, a swimming pool and meeting spaces.
You can sign the petition to save the Cedar Lakes Conference Center by clicking here.
