Rand , Kanawha County , West Virginia
Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a suspect on malicious wounding charges in connection with a weekend incident in the Rand area.
Robert Lee Critchfield was arrested Wednesday, after deputies obtained a warrant for him following an investigation into the incident, which injured Roger Fore and sent him to a hospital for treatment.
Fore said a man approached him asking for a cigarette. When told the man he had none, he said the suspect beat him with an object which caused blunt force trauma injuries and cuts.
Kanawha County deputies are investigating a reported stabbing in Rand.
Roger Fore, 40, of Rand told deputies he was walking about 10:40 p.m. Saturday on Elaine Drive toward his home when a suspect rode up on a bicycle and asked for a cigarette, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. When Fore refused, the suspect began beating him with a metal pipe before Fore was able to flee for help.
Fore was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital to undergo treatment for stab wounds and blunt force trauma.
Deputies said they have interviewed witnesses and are continuing to investigate the claims.
The suspect description was given as a white male, age unknown, wearing a white, baggy T-shirt and baggy jeans. The suspect fled east on Elaine Drive.
