U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito spoke out Sunday on the latest fiscal showdown in Washington.
There is yet another threat of a possible government shutdown happening in just more than a week.
Some are now saying "crisis mode" is becoming Washington’s new normal.
After all, Congress has been in this pickle before - four times since the end of 2010.
The current problem is that the current fiscal years ends Sept. 30 and, so far, no spending bills have been passed to keep government operations going into next year.
The sticking point in getting a deal done is an effort by some lawmakers to cut off
funding to the Affordable Care Act, set to take effect Oct. 1.
“Basically we're making a statement that's let's relook at this before it goes full force in January,” Capito said. “ So I don't believe there will be a government shutdown. I don't want one, but I think the talk of it just sort of…I think it's useless talk. I think we need to find solutions."
If a solution isn't found and the government does shut down, government worker pay would be delayed. Some employees could face furloughs and national parks would close.
