All lanes of Interstate 64 eastbound near the Nitro-St. Albans Bridge have reopened after a multiple-vehicle accident early Friday.
The accident happened about 5:30 a.m., a 911 dispatcher said.
The accident involved three cars and police said a fourth vehicle may have been involved. One vehicle possibly hit the bridge, knocking off a steel piece that two cars then hit, investigators said.
All eastbound lanes of I-64 in the area were closed for about 90 minutes. Two lanes were then open to traffic after Division of Highways crews arrived on scene to place sand on the road and clean up spilled oil. The roadway reopened about 8 a.m.
One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
