Three men and a woman face methamphetamine-related charges after Metro Drug Unit officers said they discovered items consistent with manufacturing meth at a residence in Nitro.
Joshua Landers, 29, of Nitro, Thomas Newcomer, 28, of South Charleston and Marlene Gilliam, 29, of St. Albans were arrested Thursday and charged with operating or attempting to operate a clandestine lab, according to a news release from the Nitro Police Department. Police said a warrant has been obtained for the arrest of the man who rents the home, Mark Weaver, on the same charge the other three suspects are facing.
The Nitro Police Department received an anonymous complaint Thursday about drug activity in progress at 2 Escoe Drive in Nitro, the release said. When officers arrived at the residence, they said, they detected an odor consistent with the manufacturing of meth. Officers knocked and announced their presence at the residence to speak to someone, and no one came to the door.
The Metro Drug Unit was contacted and responded to complete the investigation. Officers secured the residence for a search warrant and found three adults hiding in the residence. The drug unit detectives obtained a search warrant and located several items consistent with manufacturing meth, the release said.
Landers, Newcomer and Gilliam were being held in the South Central Regional Jail on $7,500 bond each.
