A woman accused of several purse snatchings in Charleston was arrested Thursday.
Police said she showed up at the wrong place at the wrong time, landing herself in handcuffs.
Charleston police were reviewing surveillance video at a gas station in Marmet, where a purse snatching victim's credit card had been used. While police were there, they caught a bit of a break.
They said their suspect pulled into the parking lot and, when they went to arrest her, she bit an officer on the arm.
Parma Jo Bobbitt of Boone County is claiming her innocence, but police said she's well-known to them and is now accused in three purse snatchings. They said she went into various restaurants in Kanawha City and took off with customers’ handbags.
The latest incident allegedly happened at Bob Evans in Kanawha City Wednesday morning. The victim, who had her purse on the floor beside her chair, said she was relieved that an arrest has been made.
In all three purse snatchings, police said Bobbitt used the victim's credit cards and, in one case, checks. She has been charged with multiple counts of credit card fraud, forgery and uttering.
“We began looking at video footage from the Bob Evans,” Lt. Steve Cooper, of Charleston police, said. “A couple of detectives recognized her from previous arrests.”
The woman who police said was with Bobbitt Wednesday, Mistie Garrett, has also been arrested and charged with credit card fraud.
Police said these types of crimes are on the rise.

She said two women in a table behind her, who didn't order anything, were seen on surveillance video grabbing and taking off with her purse.
