The city of Charleston is still working to come up with a solution to its stray cat problem.
The ordinance and rules committee held a public forum Monday night on a new ordinance that would limit the number of cats a person can own.
The ordinance also would propose a fine for cat owners who don't keep their animals on their own property.
But after hearing the opinions of those living in the city, committee members decided it wasn't the right action to take and tabled it for now.
They said the cat issue is still a problem, and they will continue to work to find a solution that will be in the best interest of the city.
