West Virginia Public Broadcasting is working to overcome declines in state and federal funding.
Executive director Scott Finn says the agency has cut 15 percent of its workforce, or 12 positions, in recent years.
Finn says the agency also plans to hire someone to solicit major gifts. The goal is to double gifts of $1,000 or more by 2016.
The Charleston Gazette reported that Finn discussed the agency's efforts Wednesday during a meeting of the West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority.
West Virginia Public Broadcasting Foundation chief financial officer Tammy Treadway told the authority that the agency's budget was cut 7.5 percent for the fiscal year that ended June 30. A similar cut is expected for the current fiscal year.
But Treadway said private donations are up.
