Grayson, Carter County , Kentucky
Police said at least one EMS worker in eastern Kentucky stole drugs out of an ambulance.
You're riding in an ambulance, easily one of the worst days of your life, and then the medications you're given aren't working - State Police said that could have very well been the case in one community, and the people living there are fired up.
Sabra Gumm and others in Grayson, Ky. were shocked to learn of two separate investigations involving the tampering of morphine and fentanyl of Carter County ambulances from the Grayson EMS station.
Kentucky State Police said the first investigation started back in June. Multiple doses of morphine went missing and vials of fentanyl disappeared and were replaced with an unknown substance.
Troopers are working to press charges on the suspect, who they said is a paramedic and has since been fired.
But, just Monday, in a completely different investigation, several doses of morphine were reported missing.
Gumm cares for five different children, one of which has counted on a Carter County ambulance twice.
Gumm said what is “unnerving” for her is that medications were swapped out, for something else.
“That would be dangerous,” she said. “It might cause heart to stop. What if your kid died?"
Gumm said she is thankful at least one suspect has been caught and hopes those responsible are sent to the county jail.
