Racine , Boone County , West Virginia
A lot of people came together Monday for the mine workers' picnic in Boone County.
It is traditionally the big Labor Day gathering for organized labor in West Virginia. The celebration is also a key political event, even in this off-year for elections.
Almost 14 and a half million workers belong to U.S. unions. That is only 11.3 percent of all American workers.
Dozens of people came together in Marmet Tuesday to celebrate the holiday.
On Monday, was the city's annual Labor Day parade.
Firetrucks, bands and even politicians took part in the parade that marched through the city.
