A Cabell County man accused of sexually assaulting and beating his ex-wife while holding her hostage has reached a plea agreement.
Hubert Porter was indicted on 14 counts stemming from the incident in September 2011. He was accused of breaking into his ex-wife's home in Salt Rock, attacking her, sexually assaulting her multiple times and holding her against her will for 20 hours.
She escaped and ran to a nearby church for help.
Porter entered a Kennedy plea in Cabell County Circuit Court Wednesday morning. Judge Alfred Ferguson sentenced him on 10 of those charges, to 28 years for kidnapping and one to 15 years for one charge of burglary. Those sentences will run consecutively.
The following sentences will run concurrently: one to 15 years for burglary, no more than 12 months for domestic battery, no more than six months for domestic assault, one to 15 years for burglary, not more than a year for destruction of property, not more than one year for petit larcency, two to 10 years for malicious wounding, and 90 days to one year for brandishing.
Four charges were dismissed in the case, including two counts of sexual assault, stalking and domestic assault.
