Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech and march on Washington held 50 years ago was scheduled to be commemorated in Charleston on Wednesday afternoon.
The “Let Freedom Ring” event began about 2 p.m. at the West Virginia Capitol in the Lower Rotunda, according to a news release from Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin’s office.
The Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs, in collaboration with West Virginia State University, gathered with West Virginians to recognize the historic day and reflect upon King's dream. Similar ceremonies were held all across America.
