South Charleston police are looking for a man they say got away with thousands of dollars worth of jewelry in broad daylight.
A photo of the man police suspect took $6,500 worth of jewelry from The Antique Mall in South Charleston.
Velma Moore, the store's owner, said the suspect waited for the store to open Monday morning around 10 a.m. Once inside, Moore said the man asked one of two workers for help before making a $5 purchase. But that's not all the goods the man left with from The Antique Mall.
The store's surveillance camera caught the suspect breaking into two locked jewelry showcases and taking off with close to two dozen rings. Most of the rings had diamonds, sapphires, rubies and other precious stones. The thief also got away with an amethyst pendant.
Moore said she's grateful her security camera caught the man in action.
"We have such a good security system, that it will deter someone from thinking that they can come in and take what they want, said Moore."
