Emergency officials said no one was hit by a train early Tuesday after initial reports indicated that someone had been struck.
The accident was reported about 8 a.m. at the railroad tracks along Delaware Avenue on the capital city's West Side.
Authorities at the scene told Eyewitness News that it appears a 13-year-old girl was on her way to middle school when the train went by her and the wind from the passing train knocked her down. The girl twisted her ankle and was taken to a Charleston hospital for treatment.
Emergency crews are responding to a report of a pedestrian who has been struck by a train in Charleston.
The accident was reported about 8 a.m. Tuesday along Delaware Avenue on Charleston's West Side.
