An eight-year-old little boy was taken into custody after police say he stabbed his four-year-old sister in the neck.
Police say it happened in the 400 block of Hunt Avenue around 3 p.m. Sunday on Charleston's West Side.
Police at the scene say the boy somehow got a knife and started stabbing his sister's doll. Police say the little girl walked in the room and then he cut her neck.
Sgt. Keith Peoples said, "Looking at the doll, he was taking out a lot of anger for some reason on that doll with that knife. He was getting violent with that doll. You got to be wondering what was going on in his head."
A neighbor, who didn't want to be identified said he's surpised the incident happened. "He's a good kid, I don't really understand why he'd do something like that. I know kids, they got these crazy minds. Whatever he's going through, I hope he gets over it. I'm just sorry to see this happen."
The little girl was taken to the hospital, police say she was walking, talking and seemed coherent.
Family members tell Eyewitness News the boy is not being charged and he's now home. No word if there are pending charges. The family would not release any information the four-year-old girl's condition.
The boy's name is not being released because he is a minor.
