A walk was held in Charleston Saturday, in hopes to save lives from what is considered the most preventable form of dying.
Messages for Hope hosted a suicide prevention benefit walk Saturday.
About 250 walkers participated in the event at Magic Island.
Proceeds from the event help fund support programs for suicide survivors, along with education and support programs for families locally and across the state.
Suicide is the third leading cause of death amount teens and young adults.
It's estimated 20 million Americans suffer from depression, and about a million of them attempt to take their lives each year
