Two people were arrested Saturday after police said they found meth-making materials in their car, but officers said catching the duo was not easy.
The couple went to jail after deputies said a woman rammed a police cruiser with her car during a chase in St. Albans, then, she and the passenger tried to run from police and hide.
Deputies said they tried to stop Olivia Lester on Winfield Road and Swans Lane for a traffic violation at about 4 a.m.
They said she then took off and hit a set of train tracks. Then she is accused of backing into the cruiser and taking off again.
The car slid over a hillside and police said Lester and her passenger, Blake Rutledge, took off running.
They didn't get too far. Police said they found them hiding in some brush.
When deputies searched the car, they said they found all of the ingredients used to make meth.
Lester and Rutledge were charged with attempting to operate a clandestine meth lab and fleeing police.
Lester is also charged with assault on a police officer.
