Members of a police department in Floyd County are mourning after their police chief passed away.
Chief Brian Baldwin of the Martin Police Department passed away Thursday evening after battling an illness, the department said. Baldwin had been in law enforcement since 2003.
In July, Chief Michael Napier was appointed to the department. Baldwin stepped down earlier in the year due to his illness.
The police department is collecting donations for the family. Those wishing to donate can call 606-285-3062. Funeral arraignments have not yet been set.
