You can get fresh air, exercise and a lesson in one stop this weekend in Charleston.
The West Virginia Land Trust has planned a Hike and Learn opportunity at the Wallace Hartman Nature Preserve, which is located in the heart of South Hills in Charleston.
The Hike and Learn will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Saturday and is open to all community residents and outdoor enthusiasts.
This preserve, which is more than 50 acres, is open to the public for recreation year-round and offers a maintained trail system. The preserve is owned by the Kanawha County Parks and Recreation but is protected from future development under a conservation easement that is held by the West Virginia Land Trust.
Guided tours will take place at the “upper” entrance of the preserve, located on Hampton Road in South Hills. Appropriate hiking attire is recommended, as portions of the trail may have inclines and water and snacks will be provided. For more information and directions to the preserve here
