If every dog has its day, in the city of Charleston, there is a bonus – your pooch can have two.
Parks and recreation has two events scheduled in September for canines and their owners, “Pamper Your Dog Day” and “Dog Day on the Island.”
“Pamper Your Dog Day,” is slated for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at North Charleston Dog Park. The park is located at 2009 Seventh Ave. Pet owners can bring their dogs to the park, where they can get their canines washed and brushed and have their toe nails cut. The best part – the service is free.
Meanwhile, “Dog Day on the Island” is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Magic Island. Local veterinarians and trainers will be on hand to show you how you can promote consistent behavior in your dog in the future. An agility course also will be set up “to see if your dog moves like a speeding bullet or jumps like a jackrabbit,” the city said in a brochure promoting the free event.
Other information provided by local veterinarians/trainers will focus on: behavior problems, dog obedience, dog whispering, dogs and obedience classes, basic tips for dog training, tick season, dog boarding, dog rescue and grooming tips. For more information, call 304-348-8008.
