A Mason County teenager was sentenced in the shooting death of his father.
Thomas M. Jarrell, 18, was sentenced to six months to two years in Anthony Correctional Center for second-degree murder on Friday.
Jarrell was a juvenile at the time of the shooting in April 2012. Jarrell's father, Ron, 45, was found shot multiple times at his home in the 9100 block of Ripley Road in Point Pleasant.
A teenager is facing serious charges after police say he allegedly shot and killed a Mason County man over the weekend.
Mason County deputies say Ronald Lee Jarrell, 45, of Mason County was found shot multiple times at his home in the 9100 block of Ripley Road on Sunday.
Huntington Police arrested the juvenile a short time later. He is being held in a detention facility and is charged with murder, grand larceny, and petit larceny.
A teenager is in custody after a homicide case was reported in Mason County.
It happened in the 9100 block of Ripley Road just outside of Point Pleasant.
Sgt. Michael Baylous, spokesperson for the West Virginia State Police, said police located the body of Ron Jarrell inside his home around 11 a.m. Sunday.
The Mason County Sheriffs department was called after a friend of Jarrells noticed alarming evidence outside the home.
Baylous said a teenage relative killed Jarrell with a hand gun, then fled to Huntington where officers caught up with him.
The Mason County Sheriffs Department is leading the investigation.
