Williamson, Mingo County , West Virginia
A man on home confinement in Mingo County claims the corruption charges against Circuit Judge Michael Thornsbury has put his life in jeopardy.
James Crabtree is serving a home confinement sentence for drug charges. He said he recently filed a motion with Thornsbury to allow him to be temporarily released to see a doctor in Lexington for a liver transplant.
Crabtree said, "My liver is messed up. The judge has my paperwork since the 5th of August and he refuses to sign it for what reason i have no idea."
According to the clerk's office, Thornsbury never signed off for Crabtree’s medical emergency.
Mingo County's prosecutor said it appears the inactive status of the court recently due to the investigation of elected officials could have played a part in Crabtree's order not being signed. "The best answer you know is speculation but it was very inactive during that time period, as you would imagine the reason or infer as the reasons why."
Sparks says if Mr. Crabtree submits an order to his office, it will be signed for him to receive medical treatment.
