The Cabell County commission is once again at odds after a comment from Commissioner Bob Bailey.
The commision is comprised of three members - female Republicans Nancy Cartmill and Anne Yon, and Democrat Bailey.
Things got heated at the last meeting, when Bailey commented on how he felt Cartmiil and Yon always vote together and against him.
“Both of you get your heads together on the phone,” Bailey said. “And you come in here, and know how the votes going to be. I say kiss her. That's what you ought to do."
The remark was made after Cartmill and Yon decided to table an issue Bailey wanted passed.
Bailey said he meant the comment as a joke.
“I said, ‘She voted with you so many times, you all should kiss each other,’” he said. “Now that's all I said. Crazy."
Yon said the comment was unfortunate.
“It gives off the perception there's a lot of in-fighting,” she said. “Really not the case. Things that happen, pretty much happen in the meeting. It is what you see, then it's over. I don't have any problem working with Bob.”
This isn't the first time Bailey has said something in a meeting many would think of as off-color. Six months ago, Yon accused him of making a sexist comment toward her.
