Some West Virginia lawmakers are looking tighten rules on selling pseudoephedrine, key meth-making ingredient.
Del. John Ellem, R-Wood, is calling for pseudoephedrine to be available on a prescription-only basis.
Ellem plans to introduce such a bill for the third time in next year's legislative session.
New research shows that the sale of cold medicines with pseudoephedrine has not slowed down, and in the last six months, police have busted over 300 meth labs right in Kanawha County.
Ellem thinks the measure would cut down on the meth abuse, and the taxpayer cost to clean up meth labs.
