Man , Logan County , West Virginia
People from several communities gathered in Man in Logan County Tuesday evening to discuss the detour for Route 10.
People who have to travel that road are not happy about the situation, and plenty of them showed up to express their concerns.
About 100 community members gathered at Man High School's Little Theater.
Members of the state Senate, local council members, the ambulance authority and the Division of Highways also were on hand to answer questions.
At issue, is the alternate route, which is about a 45-minute detour.
Right now, crews are working to expand a one-mile section of Route 10.
Drivers are being detoured to Rum Creek and/or Kelly Mountain Road.
But Kelly Mountain Road also is under construction, which is not only causing further delays, but some community members say it’s too hazardous to travel.
They're hoping this meeting will bring them some sort of relief.
The Division of Highways said unless someone can come up with a better solution, there isn't anything it can do.
Right now, Route 10 will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week until repairs can be made, which should take about three months.
