An Ohio man has been sentenced for his role in selling painkillers out of a Huntington automobile shop.
Vernon Browning, 45, of South Point was sentenced Monday to five years and 10 months in federal prison, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin. In April, Browning pleaded guilty to distribution of oxycodone.
Prosecutors said that in 2008, Browning would fund several trips to Atlanta to purchase prescription pills to sell out of the Little Garage automotive shop in Huntington.
An Ohio man who sold pills out of his auto shop in Huntington pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court.
Vernon Browning, 45, of South Point could face up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine when he is sentenced in July, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.
Vernon pleaded guilty to federal drug charges in a scheme that began in 2008. Investigators said Browning would organize trips to get prescription pills from Atlanta and sell them from his automotive shop on 13th Street in West Huntington. In March 2012, Browning sold 18 oxymorphone pills for $990 to a confidential informant working for the Huntington Violent Crime and Task Force, the news release said.
Investigators said Browning would travel to Georgia to get the pills then ship them to his South Point home. A shipment of 240 oxycodone pills was intercepted by police in March of this year.
