Jackson , Jackson County , Ohio
While the man facing charges in relation to a Jackson, Ohio, girl that was abducted on Friday waits to be arraigned, the mother of the victim was in court Monday on unrelated charges.
Days before her daughter was abducted, Brenda Stewart was arrested on two misdemeanor charges, including having dogs at large and indecent exposure. On Monday, she appeared before a Jackson County, Ohio, magistrate to face those charges and an alleged probation violation. Stewart and her attorney asked the judge for a bond modification on the probation violation charge, but the judge denied that request.
Authorities said Stewart's daughter, Macey Stewart, was abducted at their Jackson home on Friday. After a 14-hour search, she was found hiding in some bushes, three miles away from her home. Jackson Mayor Randy Heath said a family was sitting inside their home when they thought they heard a girl crying outside. Heath said the girl had been severely beaten in the face. She was taken to the hospital but was released on Saturday and is currently in foster care.
Zach Dunn, 30, was arrested and charged with abduction. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, and police said more charges could be filed against him.
Heath also said more people could be charged in the case.
