St. Albans , Kanawha County , West Virginia
Taking a step back in time, part of an historic plantation home in St. Albans opened its doors to the public Sunday.
Morgan's Kitchen, as it's called, was built in 1846 and is a typical log structure used during the period.
The home's vintage kitchen was a separate part of the estate, which was donated to the city of St. Albans and moved to its current site on MacCorkle Avenue in 1972.
The St. Albans Historical Society maintains the cabin, which is furnished with period cookware, utensils, and furniture.
The group hopes visitors get a feel for what it was like to live back in the 1800s.
Morgan's Kitchen typically is not open to visitors, but an open house is held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sundays during the summer.
