Greenup , Greenup County , Kentucky
The Greenup County Sheriff's Department is investigating after a man was discovered badly injured and lying in a roadway.
On Tuesday just before 10 p.m., the department along with Kentucky State Police responded to a rural area of the county in the 5000 block of Brushy Creek Road, according to a news release from the sheriff's department. Deputies said they found Charles L. McKenzie, 32, of South Shore severely injured and unresponsive in the roadway. McKenzie was taken to Our Lady of Belfonte Hospital.
Deputies originally believed it could have been the result of an ATV accident, but later realized it may have been a hit-and-run accident. Deputies have a person of interest in the case, but the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Greenup County Sheriff's Department at 606-473-1411.
