Huntington , Cabell County , West Virginia
One of the largest drug busts in Huntington's history took place in what is known as a pretty quiet neighborhood.
Earlier this week, police raided an apartment in the 3300 block of Third Avenue and arrested Alvester Thomas of Detroit and Kristin Graley of Huntington. The two are facing drug charges after police said they found two pounds of marijuana, 545 oxycodone pills, 73 oxymorphone pills and nearly four pounds of heroin, along with a gun and $18,000 in cash.
"I find that terrifying, because that could happen in my back yard," a neighbor said.
"It’s not like I could tell that they were selling drugs."
People living in the Highlawn neighborhood said it is safe, but one person, who didn't want to be identified, said there has recently been some questionable early morning behavior.
"When you've got traffic at 2 and 3 o'clock in the morning, you can just guess where it's coming from," the person said.
As the people in the neighborhood hoped for safety, the latest bust brought a sense of relief.
"It’s definitely made me feel better,” One neighbor said. “Wow!"
Two people were arrested after a record-breaking drug bust in Huntington.
Alvester Thomas of Detroit and Kristin Graley of Huntington are facing several drug charges.
Huntington police and the Violent Crime Drug Task Force had been investigating drug trafficking between Detroit and Huntington. Officers said they searched a home in the 3,000 block of rear Third Avenue and found more than 600 prescription pills, nearly four pounds of heroin, two pounds of marijuana and thousands in cash.
Police said the discovery will put a dent in heroin distribution in the area and more arrests could come.
