Motorists faced a traffic nightmare along interstate 64 Saturday after a semi truck burst into flames.
That accident had traffic backed up for miles and the roadway shutdown for hours.
The fire took place in the westbound lanes, just past the St. Albans exit around 2 p.m.
The interstate was completely shut down for several hours as crews worked to clean up the mess. The driver escaped uninjured, and no one else was injured in the fire, but the cause of this inferno is still a mystery.
A tractor trailer caught on fire on I-64 Saturday afternoon causing a traffic nightmare.
It happened in the west bound lanes, near the Scott Depot Exit, around 2 p.m. Saturday.
Dispatchers say nobody got hurt.
At this time, it is unclear what caused the tractor trailer to catch fire.
Traffic was reported backed up to Cross Lanes in the westbound lanes. Eastbound was moving, but slowed.
